London Marathon – Dr Bromige

Dr Bromige will once again be running the London Marathon. This weekend, he will try and better his time from 2010 when he completed the course in 3 hours 28 minutes 55 seconds.

Dr Bromige has been sponsored for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust and should anyone still wish to sponsor him, forms are available in reception at either of our surgeries.

We wish him well and should anyone spot him on the televison coverage, please let us know.

Olympic Park Run

Simon from our admin team is running the National Lottery Olympic Park Run on Saturday 31st March. Simon is a keen runner and will be one of just 5000 people selected via a ballot for this 5 mile run which finishes in the Olympic Stadium.

We hope that Simon achieves a personal best over this distance and has an enjoyable day at this first public event at the Olympic stadium.

As detailed on the opening times page of our website, this practice will close at 12.30pm on Thursday 23rd February 2012 to allow our staff to undertake important training. The surgery will reopen at 8am on Friday 24th February.

If you are an at risk patient and have not yet had your flu vaccination, please contact the surgery on 01803 855897 to book an appointment.

Text Reminder System – please supply your mobile number

We are trialling a text reminder system for our pre-booked appointments. This means that any patient who has supplied us with a mobile phone number will be sent a text message the day before the appointment. If your appointment is on a Monday, this will be sent on the preceding Friday.

The format of the message will give you a date, time and indicate whether the appointment is at the Brixham Surgery or the Galmpton Surgery. If the same mobile number is supplied to us for more than one patient, the text will not specify who the booked appointment is for.

Patients can update their mobile number when contacting the surgery or use the change of details form available on our website.

Any patient wishing to supply a mobile number for our records as a contact number but not wanting to receive text reminders can opt-out of this service by request.

From time to time, we may need to communicate ad-hoc information to patients such as closures for staff training.

Flu clinic appointments now available

Patients over 65 or eligible for flu vaccination via an at risk group can now book their appointment. This can be done by telephoning 855897 and selecting an option for routine appointments at either the Brixham or Galmpton surgery. We have also made some appointments available on-line for patients who have previously registered for The Waiting Room.

Housebound patients should contact the surgery in order to arrange to add their name to the list of patients requiring a home visit for their flu vaccination.

Patients should confirm that they are in one of the following at risk groups when booking their vaccination.

CHRONIC RESPIRATORY DISEASE
ASTHMA
CHRONIC HEART DISEASE
CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE
CARERS
PREGNANT WOMEN
CHRONIC NEUROLOGICAL DISEASE
