Patient Information
Verbal or Physical Abuse
We operate a zero tolerance policy to anyone who is
verbally or physically threatening or aggressive towards
staff and we reserve the right to ask anyone who abuses us
to leave the premises. This policy follows the guidelines
set out by Torbay Primary Care Trust.
As a busy practice we handle many thousands of surgery
appointments every year. If the surgery seems busy, please
bear in mind that the NHS doctors have limited time and
little or no control over the increasing demand for their
services.
Outside of Hours / Emergencies
If you have an urgent medical problem that cannot wait
until the next day, please call Devon Doctors on Call via
the message on our telephone answering machine. Note: This
will require making two telephone calls.
Alternatively for general advice from a nurse call NHS
Direct on 0845 46 47.
However in the case of a life threatening emergency
always call 999.
Emergency Visits
If the problem needs a doctor straight away, make this
quite clear to the receptionist.
In certain circumstances an ambulance will also be summoned.
Telephone Advice
Telephone advice is available via the Daily Medical Team.
Calls are taken from 8am until 11.30am Mon-Fri. If the
Daily Medical Team is not appropriate, you are also able
to leave a message for a particular doctor.
If you wish to speak to your doctor or leave a message,
please try and phone between 09:00am and 12:00 noon.
Please ask to speak to his/her secretary. You will need to
leave a contact number and the times you are available.
The Doctor will phone you back, but it may not always be
on the same day.
