Patient Profile
The resident registered list (11,500) is biased towards
the retired. The extensive local tourism results in up
to 1,500 holiday makers being treated per annum.
Practice Profile

The historic port of Brixham is home to one of the
largest fishing fleets in the country in an area of
outstanding natural beauty. It is the southernmost town
of the three that form Torbay - The English Riviera.
The practice provides healthcare to all of the residents
in Brixham and its surrounding farms and villages, an
area which extends over 80 square miles.
Torbay offers a wide range of leisure activities,
sailing, wind surfing, towing, fishing etc. Brixham
itself has some excellent restaurants and a number of
interesting shops. The town bursts into life during
various annual festivals which are often centred around
the harbour area.
Brixham is a popular holiday destination and retirement
location and also has some areas of deprivation.
The practice has 9 GPs both full time and part time
partners and two half time partners, six males and three
females, an experienced Practice Manager and its own
full compliment of admin support staff many of whom work
part-time. The number of patients registered in April
2009 was 11,500 - the proportion aged 65 and over being
well above the national average.
